Pineapple Upside-Down Cake: An Amazing Ultimate Recipe

  • Author: Olivia Turner
  • Total Time: 2 minute

Ingredients

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter
– 1 cup packed brown sugar
– 1 can (20 oz) sliced pineapple in juice
– Maraschino cherries (optional, for decoration)
– 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup vegetable oil
– 2 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1/2 cup pineapple juice (reserved from the can)

Instructions

Follow these simple steps to create your Pineapple Upside-Down Cake:

1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter.
2. Prepare Topping: Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. When melted, add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Pour this mixture into the bottom of the prepared cake pan.
3. Arrange Pineapple: Place the pineapple slices over the brown sugar mixture in the pan, making sure to arrange them neatly. If desired, add maraschino cherries in the center of each pineapple slice for extra color.
4. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well and set aside.
5. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the granulated sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and reserved pineapple juice. Whisk until well combined.
6. Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
7. Pour Batter: Carefully pour the batter over the arranged pineapples in the cake pan.
8. Bake: Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Cool: Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes.
10. Invert Cake: Carefully run a knife around the edges of the pan. Place a serving plate on top of the cake pan and swiftly invert it to release the cake onto the plate. Leave the pan on for a moment, then lift it off to reveal the beautifully arranged pineapples.
